आधुनिक भारत के राष्ट्रपिता Bhimrao Ambedkar : कोलंबिया यूनिवर्सिटी

अमेरिकियों ने बोल दिया है, तो यह कहने कि हिम्मत भी नहीं कि गलत है. क्या अजीब मुसीबत है?: )


जब से कोलंबिया यूनिवर्सिटी ने डॉ. आंबेडकर को आधुनिक भारत का राष्ट्रपिता (Founding Father, modern India) बताया है, तब से कुछ दिलों के जलने की गंध आ रही है. कोई बात नहीं, होता है. अब इन अमेरिकियों को जातिवाद कैसे सिखाया जाए. भारी मुसीबत है. Founding Father अगर आंबेडकर हैं तो बाकी किसी के लिए गुंजाइश कहां है? इसलिए भारत में ही एक poll कराया जा रहा है कि गांधी के बाद सबसे महान कौन?

Ambedkar received a scholarship to Columbia from the Maharajah of Baroda. He earned his MA in 1915 and then obtained a DSc at the London School of Economics before being awarded his Columbia PhD in 1927. In 1952, Columbia presented him with an honorary doctorate for his service as "a great social reformer and a valiant upholder of human rights." In 1995, a bronze bust of Ambedkar was donated to Lehman Library by the Federation of Ambedkarite and Buddhist Organizations of the United Kingdom. At Columbia, Ambedkar studied under John Dewey, who inspired many of his ideas about equality and social justice. Ambedkar later recounted that at Columbia he experienced social equality for the first time.
